Monthly Income Report: March 2019
So, it turns out this "make money online" thing isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
For my very first official income report, things are off to a VERY slow start to say the least! Before I jump into the report and break each of my expenses/losses down - I just wanna say I fully expected this month to be a write-off (and most likely at least a few more months moving forward) because i'm new to this.
Whenever you start anything new in life, you should not only expect to suck at it, but you should embrace the suckyness, because it's a part of the learning process!
Alright! Let's get going...
Expenses | Earnings | |
Fiverr | 78.18 | 0 |
BlueHost | 0 | 86.91 |
TubeBuddy | 65.51 | 0 |
BuilderAll | 65.51 | 0 |
GetResponse | 20.05 | 0 |
Totals | $229.25 | $86.91 |
$142.34 lost
Let's cover my expenses first
Starting from the top, I spent $78.18 on Fiverr.com.
I've been doing a lot of testing and experimenting with various YouTube promition gigs while trying to figure out different ways to get my YouTube channel off the ground.
You can see some of the results of those experiments in on of my recent videos here.
Also on the topic of YouTube - I spent $65.51 (it's a monthly expense) on TubeBuddy.
TubeBuddy is an extremely useful tool for growing your YouTube channel. It comes in the form of an extension for Google Chrome (there's a free version that's definitely worth getting), and has a ton of really powerful features like keyword research, keyword rank tracking, and a/b testing for your video thumbnails in order to find out what style performs best for your content.
Next, I dropped $65.51 on a funnel building tool called BuilderAll.
When I first jumped into the world of making money online, I had done a lot of reading about marketing/sales "funnels", and how powerful they were for making money online.
Being a fitness nerd, and having 10+ years of experience working out in the gym, I decided i'd try my hand at affiliate marketing within the fitness niche.
The initial plan was simple - I was going to create a free e-book about how to build bigger arms, set up a landing page where interested visitors would enter their email in exchange for the free e-book, and from there I could pitch them various affiliate products within the fitness niche (since I knew they were interested in working out, because they were interested enough to give me their email for the ebook).
This is a plan that I will be definitely implementing in the future, but for the time being it has been put on the back-burner so I could focus my time on finishing this website, as well as getting my YouTube channel up and running again.
I planned on using BuilderAll to build the landing page/funnel page where I would host the PDF and set up the email autoresponder, but since i've put the plan in the back seat for now - it didn't make sense to hold onto a $65 monthly expense for something i'm not using.
I also discovered GetResponse (my current email autoresponder) offers a landing page builder with their services, which i'm already paying for.
My last expense for this month, is GetResponse - coming in at $20.50.
Before I explain this one - if you're wondering why the numbers are strange values, it's because they're in Canadian currency - but these services all bill in USD.
GetResponse is an email autoresponder service. This is what you would use in order to build an email list, and send out scheduled emails to your list, in mass.
I'll go into email marketing in more depth in a later post, as it's something i'm just starting to learn about myself.
Alright, now for the earnings!
As you saw above, I made $86.91 from BlueHost last month.
BlueHost is the #1 recommeded web host by WordPress. They offer great hosting at awesome pricing.
I had created a YouTube tutorial on how to make a WordPress website in under 10 minutes, and after a couple thousand views - I ended up pulling in an affiliate commission for one of the viewers purchasing hosting through my link ($65usd/hosting sign up through the link).
My goal with BlueHost is to continue to develop high quality, high value content showing people how to build a website/blog, and refer them to BlueHost for their hosting provider.
That just about wraps it up for this one!
So, with my first month officially under my belt, I feel like i've already learned a ton. I focused most of my efforts last month on posting at least one video per week on my YouTube channel, as well as taking a lot of time to learn how YouTube ranks videos, and the different things you need to focus on in order to gain traction with your channel.
I will be using YouTube as one of my main sources of traffic for affiliate marketing moving forward, and i'll definitely everyone updated on my progress with that through my following income reports and blog posts.
